Hi, I'm Maïka.

I'm a twin mom, a lifelong reader, and the founder of Tropera.

I’m also a Fashion marketing graduate and a big dreamer. Throughout my studies I became fascinated by the consumer behaviour, building brands, and creating experiences people genuinely enjoy. As both a passionate reader and a marketer, I couldn’t stop thinking about how book discovery could be made easier, more personalized, and a lot more fun.

Like many readers, I've spent countless hours searching for my next favorite book (was even stressing out). Sometimes I'd discover an incredible story that stayed with me for weeks and I wanted to read it again. Other times, I'd follow recommendations that simply weren't the right fit.

The more I read, the more I realized something was missing. I spend hours trying to find my new obsession (or my new fictional boyfriend). I searched through Booktok, Bookstagram, Goodreads, Amazon Kindled just about every other platform out there. When you watch a movie you love, it’s easy to find another one with a similar vibe. I always wished books worked the same way. I still remember going to the library with my mom when I was younger and wishing there was an easier way to find my next book than simply judging by the cover or description.

That’s when the crazy idea of launching my own app started to take shape in my mind. Because finding books shouldn't feel like searching for a needle in a haystack.

Tropera is a book discovery app designed to help readers find books they'll actually love based on their reading preferences, favorite genres, and beloved tropes.

Whether you're obsessed with small-town romance, enemies-to-lovers, hockey romance, fantasy worlds, or emotional contemporary stories, Tropera aims to make discovering your next read easier and more enjoyable.
